Mr. Archibald Turner, the head of this firm, \wis the first to introduce Vulcanized India Rubber Thread into woven and braided fabrics. This invention w as introduced to the public in the year 1847, and for many years he and the firm (of w hich he still continues the head) had the whole control of this production, during which time they introduced the well-known elastic fabrics, consisting of cords, braids, loom w ebs, garter webs, belt webs, brace w r ebs, stay w ebs, frills, webs for surgical purposes, and gusset webs for boots and shoes.
